Gooner's
This month we're focusing on Gooner's since so many people ask us via e-mail, on the street and over the phone all the time - What is Gooner's? Gooner's is a terrific little spot that has its own fully stocked bar and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Sometimes, when it's busy in the Pub, Dining Room and Chart Room we can accommodate more guests by seating them in Gooner's. It offers the same menu as the Pub.
Gooner's also offers special menus, according the desires and needs of the different functions that happen in Gooner's. The last Saturday in June, we had a beautiful wedding meal for a happy couple. We decorated it, added some flowers and other special touches and it looked spectacular!!! (If I had remembered my camera, I would post a picture!!!). My sisters and friends hosted my stagette in Gooner's last summer. Gooner's has the flexibility to be transformed into anything a person or group requires. We have had wedding receptions, birthday parties, Christmas parties, retirement parties, anniversary parties and graduation parties. Gooner's also has a screen and other neccesseties for having business meetings.
Gooner's has enough room for a sit down dinner for 24 - 25 ppl (somehow, some way we did squeeze 28 in there one time!!!) comfortably and can accommodate up to 35 people for a stand up reception.
Chef Shirleen and her team are prepared to work with any requests and can help provide you with a wealth of knowledge about food - how much you require for your group size, food allergies, or they can come up with a menu suited just for your desires.
If you would like further information, to request a quote or to come see Gooner's in person, feel free to contact us!!! Peter, Sarah, Chef Shirleen or Chef Seth would be happy to help you out!!! Call 902-892-9150 or email info

Local Supplier Spotlight
This month our spotlight is on The Balderston Family. They own and operate Balderston's Farm Market in Stratford. If you have lived or driven across the Hillsborough Bridge then you know where the Balderston's farm is - you may have even picked strawberries there as a kid!!! The Balderston's work hard to give us and you the best fruits and vegetables grown on PEI. We get strawberries, potatoes, carrots, greens, swiss chard, spring onion and spinach from the Balderston farm and whatever else they bring in for us to try. They offer a huge selection of fresh veggies and fruits - as a a matter of fact, they offer 20 different types of vegetables and 14 different types of fruits and berries.

Their road-side market doesn't just offer their products; it also has a selection of U-Pick flowers and herbs, bakery items and preserves. As well we have frozen and baked fruit pies, specialty juices, honey, pure maple and Island dairy products. Experience a delicious ice cream cone, fresh fruit sundae or milkshake.
You can find Balderston's Farm Market on the Trans Canada Highway, on the right hand side, about 3 minutes past the lights at Sobey's in Stratford, you can call them at 902-566-FARM (3276) or you can visit their website at www.balderstons.com to learn so much more about their products!!!
Server Spotlight
This month our server in the spotlight is Tanya Grant. Tanya has been at the pub for almost 4 years. With her hair always back in a ponytail, she has a warm smile and is friendly and courteous with a smart a** sense of humour. She is helpful, kind and smart, too!!!
Tanya loves her coffee in the morning - or her coffee with Bailey's!!! She has a sweet dog named Riley and she loves Bob Dylan. Something else you may not know about Tanya (and her sister Heidi, who also works at the Pub) is that they are wonderful singers - as is their mother.
Tanya is a hard worker with a kind heart and we are lucky to have her!!!
